CPT Engineering is a family business, owned by directors Geoff and Sally Watson.Steel Fabrication Melbourne

It began 1982 as Watson Engineering, a one-man concern in Scottsdale, Tasmania. Operated by Geoff, the company manufactured and supplied rural, mining, agricultural and timber industries in North-East Tasmania. As these industries grew so did Watson Engineering.

Keen to expand the capabilities his firm could offer clients, particularly with an increase  in contracts with mainland companies, Geoff and Sally purchased Centre for Precision Technology at Glenorchy.

By 2003, a decision was made to relocate CPT to be in closer proximity to its parent company. A sizeable premises was purchased in George Town in order to be able to offer economical and time-efficient service to multinational companies such as Alcoa and Comalco, now Rio Tinto. Three years later, in 2006, co-directors Geoff and Sally Watson decided to amalgamate their two operational arms and Watson Engineering relocated to George Town also. This move saw the company change its name to CPT Engineering.

Since that time the company has maintained a strong presence in the area, investing in technology and highly trained, enthusiastic staff. Recently, management of the company has been shared between Geoff and Sally Watson and their son, Nick, who has been working at the company since 2002.Steel Fabrication Melbourne

CPT Engineering is committed to maintaining a highly skilled workforce that will work with the company to grow and find new avenues of opportunity into the future with investment into the state and local community in the way of training, employment and sponsorship.

CPT Engineering is still 100 per cent family owned. It’s estimated that in its 32 years’ operation, the company has employed more than 300 Tasmanians. It is also a firm that takes pride in having trained more than 40 apprentices, many of whom have stayed with the company happy to know that their loyalty is recognised and appreciated.
